Broadcast System Process

  1. Determine hardness and moisture content of existing slab. These values will determine how time consuming it will be to prep the slab, and the need for materias that can withstand higher moisture vapor emission coming from the slab.
  2. Prepare the slab using a grinder with diamond tooling, or a shotblaster. Prepare joints to be filled or transferred through the coating.
  3. Install the base coat, and broadcast the selected material into the base coat material to desired look, typically to refusal.
  4. Scrape, sand, and sweep spent material to prepare for topcoat.
  5. Install cap coat or top coat depending on desired finish.

This process can take 2-3 days depending on size of job, duration of prep stage, and many other factors. Your new floor will be available for regular use 48 hours after final step.

Imperfections in the slab

While we strive to provide a perfect finish each time, repairing damaged concrete and filling existing joints is a time consuming and expensive process that will be addressed during prep. If it is determined that the joints should be filled, there is no guarantee against further movement and the visibility of the joints in the finished surface.

Frequenty Asked Questions

Do I need to move everything out of the space?

Yes, all contents need to be removed prior to installation, and will need to be stored for at least 48 hours after installation. We do offer content moving and storage solutions at an additional cost.

Do I (the homeowner) need to prepare anything?

You will have no access to the installation space from the start of work, until at least 48 hours after installation, so please gather anything you;ll need from that area prior to work starting. Although no one will be allowed in the area during installation, pets and children need to be especially careful not to enter the work area as heavy equipment and chemicals will be in use. We also need the most direct access to the area, so vehicles in the driveway or access area will need to be moved.

How long after installation until the space is usable?

Typically, return to service is 48 hours after final coat is applied, but this can change depending on many factors like weather, temperature, the use of the space, and what coatings were applied. The installer will advise on exact time. Although the space will be usable, the coatings will not be fully cured until up to 7 days after installation, extreme care should be used during the final curing process.

Do you offer 1-day installation?

At this time, we determine the installation time of each project based on the site conditions, 1 day installation can be done in some cases, but is not recommended in most cases due to the potential for lack of quality in the finished product.

What type of chemicals do you use?

We use high quality 100% solids epoxy, urethane cement, polyaspartic, and polyurethane at different point in the installation and depending on the use case. Our systems are developed and manufactured in Anaheim California, which has the strictest standards on the chemical manufacturing industry.
